The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) organized on Thursday, December 14, at the headquarters of the Business Incubator in Soroca a training seminar entitled “Extending the Role of Intellectual Property as an Integral Part of the Economic Activity of SMEs”.

To the seminar were invited the SMEs active as residents of the Business Incubator in Soroca, as well as other enterprises interested in the subject.

On 13 December, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) organized a training seminar entitled “The Role of Trademark and Industrial Design Protection in Economic Development”, for fourth-year students, Design and Polygraphic Technologies Department, Faculty of Textile and Polygraphy, from the Technical University of Moldova (TUM).

The seminar aimed at familiarizing students with the national system of protection and exploitation of intellectual property.

On December 13 this year, at the headquarters of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), was held the Fourth Meeting of the Technical Assistance Project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Republic of Moldova”, financed by the European Union. The main purpose of the project is to improve the mode of application of the legislation in the field of intellectual property rights.

In the period 11-15 December 2017, at the State Agency on Intellectual Property is held the training course “Protection of Intellectual Property in the Republic of Moldova. Practical Aspects” for judges and prosecutors trained in the continuous training process conducted by the National Institute of Justice.

The training course is attended by judges from the Chisinau court and territorial courts, the Chisinau, Balti, Cahul Court of Appeal, as well as prosecutors of the Prosecutor General’s Office and territorial public prosecutor’s offices.

On December 8, this year, at the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) was held the joint working meeting of the members of the Observatory on the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights. The meeting was attended by representatives of AGEPI, Prosecutor General’s Office, Ministry of Internal Affairs, General Police Inspectorate, Customs Service and Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance.

The international seminar “The Role of Ministries and Agencies in the Development and Promotion of Products with Geographical Indications (GIs): European Experience and Implementation Actions in the Republic of Moldova” took place on December 7, 2017, at the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI). The event was organized by the Technical Assistance Project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Republic of Moldova”, financed by the European Union, in collaboration with AGEPI.

As of 04 December 2017 the Japan Patent Office (JPO) has made its design data available to the Designview search tool.

The integration of JPO is a concrete result of the International Cooperation programme managed by EUIPO in collaboration with its international partners.

With JPO on board Designview now contains data from 62 participating offices.

With the addition of more than 525.000 designs from JPO Designview provides information and access to more than 13,2 million designs.

On 4 December this year, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) organized a training seminar entitled “Legal Protection of Intellectual Property”, for second-year students of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences, State University of Moldova.

The seminar aimed to familiarize students with the national system of protection and use of intellectual property.

How harmonized is the legislation of the Republic of Moldova with the provisions of 2014/26/EU Directive on collective management of copyright and related rights and multi-territorial licensing of rights in musical works for online use in the internal market? How can collective management activity be improved? When will we have a unique collector? The answers to these questions will be found in the next few months by experts in the project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights”, Irina Lucan-Arjoca, Deputy Director General of ORDA Romania and jurist Ion Tiganas.
