Trilateral Meeting at the Level of AGEPI, OSIM and ORDA Management

In the period 26 – 29 January 2016, at the State Agency on Intellectual Property took place the working visit of the official delegations of the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania (OSIM) and the Romanian Office for Copyright (ORDA), and the Trilateral Meeting at the level of AGEPI, OSIM and ORDA Management.

The purpose of the working visit was to strengthen cooperation relations in the field of intellectual property.

In the opening, the Director General of AGEPI, Octavian Apostol thanked Romania colleagues for accepting the invitation to the meeting, noting the need for increased collaboration between the parties.

In turn, the Director General of OSIM, Alexandru Ioan Andrei welcomed AGEPI initiative and expressed the hope that the discussions will be useful for all three institutions.

At the same time, the Deputy Director General of ORDA, Irina Lucan-Arjoca noted the importance of such events for the exchange of experience and taking best practices in the field of protection of copyright and related rights.

Thus, during the meeting, AGEPI, OSIM and ORDA delegations exchanged information on recent developments in the field of intellectual property in the Republic of Moldova and Romania, reviewing the successes achieved by the offices and the challenges facing the current stage to achieve the objectives.

At the same time, they discussed topics related to the field of copyright and related rights, including the activities and management of collective management organizations, collection and remuneration of royalties, relations between CMOs and users of copyright and related rights, settlement of disputes in the field, etc.

During the meeting, there also were identified the priority directions of cooperation between AGEPI and OSIM in the field of development and strengthening of national systems of protection of intellectual property.

At the end of the working visit, the three Parties appreciated the exchange of experience they had and showed open to organizing other meetings of this kind.
