On November 20, 2014, in the conference hall of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) was held the Training Seminar “Trademarks, Industrial Designs – Effective Tools to Enhance the Competitiveness of Enterprises”. The seminar fitted into the list of activities conducted by AGEPI in the Global Entrepreneurship Week, which also takes place annually in the Republic of Moldova in the period 17-21 November.
This event is the second in number of the series of training seminars in the field of intellectual property for managers and representatives of business incubators, scientific-technological parks and innovation incubators in the republic, organized by AGEPI. The first seminar on patent information and its role in the development of competitive products and services was organized jointly with the Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ODIMM) in June this year.
The meeting aimed to schooling and training representatives of business incubators, scientific-technological parks and innovation incubators of the republic in the field of intellectual property and development of research and search skills in national and international information sources in the field, especially trademarks, industrial designs.
At the opening of the works, Lilia Bolocan, Director General of AGEPI, urged the participants to benefit from the information provided by AGEPI experts in this seminar, to more effectively use all opportunities offered by the national IP system to develop their own businesses and contribute to the economic recovery of the country.
Speakers – Simion Levitchi, Director of Trademarks, Industrial Designs Department, and Natalia Mogol, Deputy Director of Trademarks, Industrial Designs Department – referred in detail to the procedure for registration of trademarks, industrial designs, the effects of their registration and the transfer of rights on these intellectual property objects, etc. During the seminar were organized practical search exercises in databases “Trademarks” and “Industrial Designs”, available on-line on the AGEPI website.
Among the participants were representatives of ODIMM, business incubators in Stefan Voda, Dubasari, Sangerei and Leova, Scientific Research Institute “Eliri” JSC, State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “N. Testemitanu”, etc.
Finally, Ion Tiganas, Deputy Director General of AGEPI, presented certificates of training in the field of protection of trademarks, industrial designs to participants.
Participants in the seminar positively appreciated the idea of organizing information seminars in the field of intellectual property for business environment.
