Roundtable “Improving Relations between Competent Authorities (Customs, Police, Prosecutor General’s Office) and Right Holders”

On 3 October this year, in Chisinau was held the roundtable entitled “Improving Relations between Competent Authorities (Customs, Police, Prosecutor General’s Office) and Right Holders”, organized by the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) in cooperation with Andra Musatescu Lawyers and Industrial Property Offices, under the auspices of the International Trademark Association (INTA).

Director General of AGEPI Lilia Bolocan mentioned at the opening that the meeting of experts with responsibilities in the field of enforcement of intellectual property rights of the Republic of Moldova and Romania aims to be a platform to exchange of experience and practices on cooperation of authorities with the right holders. Deputy Director General of AGEPI Ion Tiganas presented the recent developments in this field in the Republic of Moldova that aim to identify solutions and mechanisms to improve the dialogue between authorities and right holders.

Among the participants were representatives of the State Agency on Intellectual Property, State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania, Police General Inspectorate of the Republic of Moldova, Romanian Border Police, Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova, Romanian Customs Authority, and judges of the Court of Appeal and tribunals of Romania.

In the round table were discussed topics, such as: enforcement of intellectual property rights, cooperation between authorities and right holders, experience of authorities with responsibilities in the field of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights of the Republic of Moldova and Romania and the possibilities of improving the dialogue between authorities and right holders.
