Republic of Moldova was accepted in the Representative List of the Intangible Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO). A decision to this effect was taken today, December 5, 2013, in the framework of the eighth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Heritage of UNESCO, which is held in Baku (Azerbaijan).
Thus, the traditional winter custom “Singing of Christmas Carols by Man’s Band”, submitted by the Republic of Moldova and Romania will be found in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
It is the first time when an element of the cultural heritage of the Republic of Moldova is entered in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
