Moldavian Design Week, First Festival of Creative Industries in the Republic of Moldova

The first festival of creative industries – Moldavian Design Week is taking place from 4 to 11 June 2018 in Chisinau. The event takes place simultaneously in several locations: the National Art Museum of Moldova, the National History Museum of Moldova and the Water Tower in the Capital. The purpose of the event is to make design accessible to the general public. The official opening of the Moldavian Design Week, organized by Design Cafe & Club, took place on June 4 at the National Art Museum of Moldova.

The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participates as partner of the event.

Present at the opening of the event, AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan mentioned that the Agency is investing great resources and much effort in promoting the intellectual property system, the priority being to increase the degree of culture, raise the level of knowledge and to develop the skills of the citizens and the business environment in the field of intellectual property, and the Moldavian Design Week Festival is a real platform for communication and information for this purpose. “We can’t help mentioning that, in the conditions of globalization of trade, industrial design, along with other intellectual property objects, has a high potential for promoting the positive image of the Republic of Moldova abroad. In this context, we assure all participants in the Festival of plenary support from AGEPI in the process of information and consultation on the protection of industrial design and other intellectual property objects both in the country and abroad,” said Lilia Bolocan.

Moldavian Design Week is a premiere for the Republic of Moldova. At the National Art Museum of Moldova are exhibited the best architectural and design projects in the country. The National History Museum of Moldova is the location that hosts the educational district of the event and the representatives of the creative fields such as fashion, painting or sculpture. The audience can also admire an architectural photography exhibition at the Water Tower, meet at Design Talks with the best specialists in the field, and enjoy parties organized in several luxurious places throughout the week.

AGEPI is present at the National History Museum of Moldova with an information stand. Agency specialists provide consultations on the theoretical and practical aspects of protection of intellectual property objects, information sources in the field, distribute promotional materials and give consultations in the field of intellectual property both to participants in the festival of creative industries and visitors.

Also, within the Moldavian Design Week, on June 7, Design Talks will take place - the event, which will bring many good people from the field of creative industries. An evening in which one by one, nationally and internationally recognized specialists will be on the scene. Design Talks comes with an exchange of experience, which will put design in value as a creative area and a reflection of art. About Design – between art and intellectual property, in Design Talks, Simion Levitchi, Head of Trademarks and Industrial Design Department, AGEPI, will speak.

Moldavian Design Week, having a concept similar to that of Milano Design Week, aims to become a communication platform that would bring together the best people in the field, ready for a new experience.
