On 26 September, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova, consisting of the Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) Lilia Bolocan and H.E. Ambassador Victor Moraru, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the United Nations Office in Geneva, had a working meeting with WIPO Director General Francis Gurry.
The delegation of our country informed the leadership of WIPO about the activities conducted by AGEPI during 2013 to strengthen the national system of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights. The Director General of AGEPI informed the WIPO leadership about the implementation of ISO Standard 9001:2008 in the Agency’s activity to ensure the provision of quality services in the area at the request of the applicants and holders of intellectual property rights. One of the priority activities of AGEPI in recent years has been the implementation of the system of on-line submission of applications for the title of protection of IP, which will facilitate access of applicants to the IP services.
During the meeting, the parties agreed on priority directions of bilateral collaboration in 2014, in the context of implementing the provisions of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and WIPO on Intellectual Property signed in Chisinau on 22 October 2012.
The meeting took place as part of the 51st series of Annual Meetings of the WIPO General Assemblies, which took place in Geneva from 23 September to 2 October 2013.
