On October 25, 2016, at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM), in the framework of a Forum, was launched the Science to Business Platform. The event brought together scientists, business representatives, heads of ministries, banking financial system and business associations.
The Forum was opened and moderated by academician Ion Tighineanu, Prime Vice President of ASM, who said that the launch of the interaction platform between the business and scientific research environment is a very good initiative in the context of new realities and opportunities that have emerged thanks to the association of national scientific community with the EU programs, particularly with the Horizon 2020 and COSME Programs.
With a welcoming message to the participants addressed the ASM President, Acad. Gheorghe Duca, who stressed the need to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between the research and business environment, stressing that only in such a way will be able to ensure Moldova’s competitiveness nationally and internationally.
And because the initiative for the creation of the Science to Business Platform belongs to the Agency for Innovation and Technology Transfer, Director General of the Agency, Roman Chirca, underlined that the Agency wants to create a Business-Science Platform, for it to be one dynamic, for interaction and launch of new projects, placement in orbit of all the actors involved in the processes of innovation and technology transfer, to achieve this development energy of both the research sector and the innovation-based business.
Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), Octavian Apostol spoke to the participants about the role and place of intellectual property in the launch and operation of the Business to Science Platform. AGEPI Director General said that intellectual property rights are vital in attracting foreign direct investment, stimulating innovation and promoting research and development and technology transfer.
The Forum continued its work by displaying the presentations of the business environment representatives and recorded successful cases, the banking system that tried to advertise programs available to them, NGOs representatives in the business environment who also expressed willingness to join this platform.
