On 19 March 2015, inside the University of European Political and Economic Studies “Constantin Stere” (USPEE), was organized the round table “Protection of Intellectual Property in the Republic of Moldova”. The event aimed to familiarize students and professors with the national system of protection, exploitation and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
In opening, Dean of the Law Department, Mr. Iurie Mihalache specified the importance of the national IP system, training of skills to the future specialists to contribute to the creation, legal protection and exploitation in practice of intellectual property objects. Also, in the context of further collaboration with AGEPI, it was mentioned the need for joint efforts in the intellectual property rights protection segment.
Subsequently, AGEPI Deputy Director General, Ion Tiganas addressed to students as future colleagues in the field of enforcement of IP rights, urging them to open discussions in the round table and further cooperation. For starters, Mr. Ion Tiganas informed students about intellectual property, its role, essence, components and principles. In the same context were described and exemplified intellectual property objects, along with legislation related to their protection. For students participating in the meeting of great interest were penalties for violations of copyright and related rights, and differences in national legislation and legislation of other countries in this field.
The roundtable was held in an interactive format and was a communication platform between AGEPI and students from the Law Department. Finally, participants received promotional materials about intellectual property, copyright and related rights, anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy, which came to illustrate those discussed during the meeting.
