The Permanent Representation of the Republic of Moldova to the UN Office, the WTO and other international organizations headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, in cooperation with the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), organized a festive event dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova, to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Switzerland, as well as the 25 years since the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the United Nations Organization.
The reception took place on 31 August this year, within the premises of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva.
The event aimed at consolidating the image and presence of the Republic of Moldova in the UN and other specialized agencies of the UN, including WIPO, as well as promoting the national intellectual property system among the member states of these organizations.
Over 350 representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations headquartered in Geneva, as well as members of the diaspora of the Republic of Moldova in Switzerland, participated in the reception.
AGEPI was represented at the event by Director General Lilia Bolocan.
The event was inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Tudor Ulianovschi, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the UN Office and WTO in Geneva.
During the Geneva festivity, a stand promoting the Republic of Moldova was organized. The guests were offered promotional materials on the history, culture and socio-economic activity of the Republic of Moldova, including about the national intellectual property system.
Also, the participants in the official reception were able to taste traditional dishes and enjoy wines from the Republic of Moldova. The artistic program was offered by the winners of the third place of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017: the “SunStroke Project” band and the dancers of the National Folk Dance Ensemble “Joc”.
At the same time, the artworks of the painter Cezar Secrieru, who during the last 10 years presented various exhibitions at the UN, were exhibited during the event.
In the context of the visit to Geneva, AGEPI Director General, Lilia Bolocan, had a series of working meetings with WIPO representatives, including a bilateral meeting with WIPO Director General Francis Gurry, wherein the current stage of cooperation between the two institutions, including the implementation of the AGEPI-WIPO joint action plan for 2017 was tackled. Also, during the meetings were set the priority directions of bilateral cooperation for the next period.
