Cooperation Relations between the State Agency on Intellectual Property and the European Union Intellectual Property Office discussed at a Bilateral Meeting in Geneva

The Delegation of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), headed by Interim Director General Andrei Popa, met with the Director of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) Christian Archambeau, as well as with other EUIPO representatives.

The meeting took place in the context of participation of the AGEPI Director in the 59th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which takes place at the WIPO headquarters in Geneva, from September 30 to October 9.

Topics of interest for the two offices were addressed during the meeting, being made an exchange of opinions on the latest developments in the field of intellectual property. Also, the implementation stage of the EUIPO - AGEPI Joint Action Plan for 2019 was evaluated and the cooperation priorities for the next period were outlined.

The EUIPO Director congratulated the Moldovan delegation on the successes registered by AGEPI, referring in particular to the agency’s implementation of EUIPO tools. “AGEPI is an extremely dynamic and progressive office, which, with relatively modest resources, has managed to achieve extremely complex things in a record time,” said Mr. Archambeau.

The Interim Director General of AGEPI, in turn, thanked the EUIPO Director and his team for openness to the needs of the agency and informed the European partners about the latest achievements in the legislative and also institutional field. Andrei Popa confirmed AGEPI’s commitment to continue to work towards aligning with European standards and reiterated its interest in implementing the best European practices within the agency, including the Common Practices developed in the EUIPO Convergence Program and applied by EU Member States.
