AGEPI participated in the International Forum “Strengthening the Knowledge Triangle in the Republic of Moldova”

In the period 11-12 February 2016, within the premises of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, was held the International Forum “Strengthening the Knowledge Triangle in the Republic of Moldova: TRIANGLE 2016”. The main organizer of the Forum was the Center for European Integration Studies of AESM.

TRIANGLE 2016 edition was dedicated to the theme “Higher Education - Making the Knowledge Triangle Work”, with the purpose of supporting of the objectives of the 9th Ministerial Conference of the Bologna Process (Yerevan, 14-15 May 2015) by including education, innovation and employment in a knowledge triangle in which vocational guidance programs play an important role.

The main objective of the Forum “Triangle – 2016” was to define the steps to be taken towards the complete Europeanization by strengthening interaction between education, research and development. The main result of this interaction is the implementation of research findings into innovative products and services that could enhance the competitiveness of the Republic of Moldova internationally.

The main emphasis was placed on the following aspects: the role of universities in education and training of researchers; increasing partnerships with other universities, research institutions and enterprises to respond to the demands of society; the way in which the policy framework creates conditions for regional transformation and promotion of innovation and competitiveness, and the challenges and obstacles faced by universities in the supply/provision of research results and educational programs.

The international event was attended by representatives of public institutions and authorities of the republic, of institutions in the sphere of science and innovation, university and entrepreneurial environment from the republic and abroad (Slovenia, Ukraine, Republic of Belarus, etc.).

Forum program included a series of speeches, roundtables, training seminars with interactive presentations and case studies, workshops.

The event was attended by specialists of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).

Thus, in the opening of the second day of the Forum, AGEPI Director General, Octavian Apostol, presented brief information about the protection of intellectual property objects in the Republic of Moldova and their impact on the country’s economy. In the same context, Octavian Apostol said that there is a directly proportional connection between the number of innovations, inventions and economic development of the country. At the same time, AGEPI Director General said that in the Republic of Moldova there are creative people, but problems still exist in terms of using their creativity products, for lack of the needed skills to complete the process of taking an invention to the economic effect and balance, in the end, the number of trademarks with that of inventions sought on the market.
