AGEPI - OSIM Cooperation Relationships, discussed during a meeting in Chisinau

On September 7, this year, a bilateral meeting was held in Chisinau at the level of Directors General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) of the Republic of Moldova and the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks (OSIM) of Romania. The visit of the OSIM delegation took place in the context of the 25th anniversary, on September 8, of the foundation of AGEPI. The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation relations in the field of intellectual property between the two offices.

Thus, during the meeting, AGEPI and OSIM delegations discussed on recent developments in the field of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in the Republic of Moldova and Romania. Also, the stage of bilateral cooperation was assessed in the context of the implementation of the Joint Program of Cooperation between AGEPI and OSIM for 2016-2017, concluded on April 20, 2016, in Chisinau and setting priorities for the next biennial (2018-2019). At the same time, an exchange of views was made on the development of the patent system, including the validation of European patents in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, as well as the enhancement of the quality of patents: tools and methodologies, obtained results.

The discussions also covered issues related to the implementation of the AGEPI-OSIM joint projects, namely: the pilot program to accelerate the patent procedure for applications filed with AGEPI and OSIM, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between AGEPI and OSIM signed on 26 May 2017 and the conduct of the Contest the field of intellectual property for young people, developed under the Cooperation Protocol on the Organization of the Contest, signed on 26 May this year. An exchange of views was also made on international projects involving the two offices, including projects of the World Intellectual Property Organization, the European Patent Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office.
