AGEPI conducts the Seminar “Geographical Indications, Appellations of Origin and Traditional Specialties Guaranteed - New Opportunities for Economic Development of the Republic of Moldova”

On April 23, 2013, between 11.00 - 13.30, in the conference hall of the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) takes place the Seminar “Geographical Indications, Appellations of Origin and Traditional Specialties Guaranteed - New Opportunities for Economic Development of the Republic of Moldova”.

The seminar is attended by representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, public authorities with responsibilities in the field of protection of GIs, AO and STG, including the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Regional Development and Construction and the Ministry of Environment.

According to the working agenda, AGEPI experts will present communications on “The Role of Geographical Indications and Appellations of Origin in Promoting the Quality of Local Products”, “Protection of Geographical Indications and Appellations of Origin at the National and International Level”, “Priority Trends of Development of the System of Protection of Geographical Indications and Appellations of Origin”.

The Seminar in question takes place in the context of implementation of the Joint Project on promotion of the national system of protection of geographical indications, appellations of origin and traditional specialties guaranteed among producers in the area, and the need to educate the persons responsible in this area and to familiarize them with the provisions of the national and international legislation, with their role in promoting local products and developing small and medium-sized enterprises. The participants in the seminar will benefit from a wide range of information and strategies to promote products, which can be streamlined thanks to the advantages and opportunities offered by the IG, DO and STG system in manufacturing and marketing quality local products.
